The Ligurian canestrelli are totally different from the Piedmontese canestrelli, despite the fact that the territory of origin is divided between the two regions.

The basic ingredients are flour, butter, sugar, eggs and have the characteristic shape of a rounded six-pointed star (but it seems that initially they were eleven) with a central hole.
